Abu Dhabi LNG Fund Aims for $1.2 Billion First Close
Reem Partners will manage the vehicle, part of a strategic agreement with MidOcean Energy and EIG and a wider push to move Private Department and KSH holdings into ADGM.
A liquefied natural gas fund established by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan's Private Department is targeting a first close of $1.2 billion, the office said in a statement issued on Monday.
The vehicle is named Pvt Dpt – LNG Fund (CEIC) IC, and Reem Partners Limited will run it. Reem Partners is incorporated in Abu Dhabi Global Market and regulated by the market's Financial Services Regulatory Authority, with a licence covering deal arrangement, fund management and investment advice.
KSH Investments, an affiliate of the Private Department, will advise the fund on strategy.
The launch sits inside a strategic agreement with MidOcean Energy and EIG. Under that arrangement, the partners will raise capital and source energy and infrastructure deals in the UAE and other regional markets.
Ahmed Mansour, chief executive of global investment and asset management at the Private Department, said MidOcean offers access to "a vital part of the global energy landscape" through a well-rounded LNG platform, and that the EIG tie-up sets up further joint investments across the region.
MidOcean is an LNG company formed by EIG, an institutional investor in global energy and infrastructure, to build a diversified LNG portfolio. Its interests include Gorgon LNG, Pluto LNG, QCLNG and Peru LNG.
The fund forms part of a drive to bring Private Department and KSH investment vehicles into ADGM. Assets under management at the centre rose 54% year on year in the first half of 2026. It managed 276 funds, up 32% from 209 a year earlier, and counted 190 fund and asset managers, 23% more than the 154 recorded previously.
Housing an LNG strategy inside a regulated Abu Dhabi vehicle links the emirate's energy ambitions to its fund management cluster, and gives regional money a route into assets that are otherwise held by large producing consortiums.
