Banque du Caire Sets October 19 Start for IPO Orders

Banque du Caire will begin taking subscription orders for the public and private tranches of its initial public offering on the Egyptian Exchange on Monday, October 19. The subscription period ends October 28. The schedule follows procedures approved by the Financial Regulatory Authority.

Hashem El Sayed, assistant to the Prime Minister and head of the State-Owned Enterprises Unit, said the offer covers up to 4.575 billion existing shares, equal to 30% of the bank's share capital. Qualified investors will receive 95% through a private placement; the public tranche accounts for 5%.

Price range and timetable

Shares are being marketed at an indicative range of EGP 4.82 to EGP 5.30, or $0.09. At the top of that range the offering would be valued at up to $453.1 million, or EGP 24.25 billion. The stake could rise to 45%, subject to regulatory requirements.

Purchase orders will be accepted from October 19 to 23. The final offer price is expected by October 26, after bookbuilding and investor demand are assessed. Allocations in the private tranche will be registered on October 27 and 28.

Brokerages and advisers

Commercial International Brokerage Company, EFG Hermes International Securities Brokerage and Hermes Securities Brokerage will handle the private tranche. The public tranche is open to every brokerage licensed by the FRA, with orders submitted through the Egyptian Exchange's Special Transactions Market (OPR) system for the full subscription period.

Commercial International Brokerage Company is the executing broker for the selling shareholders. CI Capital Investment Banking and EFG Hermes are offering managers and international coordinators. Baker Tilly is independent financial adviser; Helmy, Hamza & Partners is legal counsel. Hazem Hassan and Egypt's Central Auditing Organization are auditors.

Management and network

Hussein Abaza, managing director and chief executive, described the offering as a milestone in the bank's development. He pointed to operations spanning retail and corporate banking, small and medium-sized enterprises, and microfinance, and said the bank looks forward to welcoming new investors.

Banque du Caire disclosed on October 11 that it planned to list 30% of issued share capital. It serves about 3.2 million customers through 233 branches, with scheduled openings expected to take the network to 242 in late 2026 and through 2027. It operates 2,205 ATMs.

Financials and listing programme

Net profit after tax reached $169.7 million, or EGP 8.9 billion, in the first half of 2026. Total assets were $10.7 billion, or EGP 561.2 billion, at the end of June.

About 28 state-owned companies have been provisionally listed on the Egyptian Exchange under the government's IPO programme. The plan calls for completing offerings and final listing procedures for eligible companies, part of efforts to deepen the capital market and draw investment.
