Emirates NBD Posts Record AED 42.2bn Nine-Month Income; DIB Revenue Tops AED 18.6bn

Emirates NBD closed the third quarter of 2026 with net profit of AED 6.4 billion ($1.7 billion), level with the same period a year earlier. Dubai Islamic Bank booked AED 1.87 billion ($509 million) over the same three months, 4% below the AED 1.95 billion ($531 million) it earned in the prior-year quarter.

Emirates NBD: record income, faster loan growth

Income across the first nine months reached AED 42.2 billion ($11.5 billion), a record for the bank and 15% higher year-on-year. Both interest income and non-funded income contributed. Customer activity across its core markets pushed total assets to AED 1.38 trillion ($375.8 billion), an 18% rise since the start of the year.

The loan book grew faster than the balance sheet. Gross loans stood at AED 833 billion ($226.8 billion), up 27% year-to-date, while deposits rose 19% to AED 935 billion ($254.6 billion) as the customer base expanded. Capital and liquidity ratios stayed at levels the bank describes as sufficient to fund further growth.

Asset quality improved. The non-performing loan ratio fell to 2% in the third quarter from 2.5% a year before. An impairment allowance of AED 2.1 billion ($571.8 million) covered provisioning mainly at Denizbank and Emirates NBD, partly offset by recoveries.

The quarter also brought two moves abroad. In June the bank completed the acquisition of RBL Bank, and during the third quarter it agreed to buy HSBC Egypt's retail banking business. Shayne Nelson, group chief executive, said the Egypt deal strengthens the bank's position there and advances its plan to build a deeper customer franchise.

Dubai Islamic Bank: revenue up, profit down

DIB's gross revenues for the nine months rose 7% year-on-year to AED 18.6 billion ($5 billion). Gross funded income accounted for AED 15.5 billion ($4.2 billion) of that, with non-funded income at AED 3.1 billion ($844 million). Operating profit before impairment charges increased 4% to AED 7.1 billion ($1.9 billion). The cost-to-income ratio was 28.1%.

Total assets reached AED 427 billion ($116 billion), 3% higher year-to-date. Net financing and Sukuk investments grew 6% year-on-year to AED 372.1 billion ($101.32 billion). The non-performing financing ratio improved to 2.4%, down 30 basis points since January and 70 basis points below the same point in 2025.

Fadhel Abdulbaqi Al Ali, the bank's chairman, said the first nine months of 2026 were shaped by regional geopolitical tension and unsettled conditions in global markets. The results, he said, show the business model can sustain growth and keep supporting customers while pursuing new opportunities.

In a 2026 ranking of the region's 100 most valuable companies, Emirates NBD placed 10th and Dubai Islamic Bank 30th.
