Four Saudi Banks Lift Q3 2026 Profit as SNB Slips 0.3%

Four of Saudi Arabia's largest lenders closed the third quarter of 2026 with higher net profit than a year earlier. Saudi National Bank was the exception, and only narrowly: its attributable profit slipped 0.3%. The figures come from quarterly filings with the Saudi Exchange.

Al Rajhi Bank

Al Rajhi Bank earned $1.8 billion (SAR 7.1 billion) attributable to shareholders, up 11.7% year on year. Total operating income climbed 12.5%, carried by net financing and investment income and by banking service fees. Net financing and investment income on its own rose 18.1% on stronger gross income from both books.

Operating expenses before provisions for credit and other losses grew 6.3% to $629 million (SAR 2.36 billion). Earnings per share for the first nine months reached $0.87 (SAR 3.27), against $0.77 (SAR 2.9) a year earlier.

Riyad Bank

Riyad Bank booked $765 million (SAR 2.87 billion) in attributable profit, a 6.6% gain. Operating income rose 7.6% to $1.3 billion (SAR 5 billion), with contributions from net trading income, net special commission income, foreign exchange income, fees and commissions, and other operating income. Lower dividend income and smaller gains on the disposal of non-trading investments trimmed the total. Higher expenses partly offset the profit increase.

Total assets stood at $145.3 billion (SAR 545 billion) after nine months, up 7.3%, while investments jumped 20.95% to $23.7 billion (SAR 89 billion). Nine-month earnings per share rose to $0.51 (SAR 1.92) from $0.49 (SAR 1.85).

Saudi National Bank

SNB's attributable profit fell 0.3% to $1.73 billion (SAR 6.5 billion). Two forces drove the decline: heavier operating costs and larger impairment charges for expected credit losses. Operating expenses before impairment charges rose 9% to $719.8 million (SAR 2.7 billion). Employee-related expenses added 1.3%, depreciation and amortization jumped 41.3%, and general and administrative costs climbed 13.2%.

Total assets are up 4.3% since December 2025, helped by 3.9% growth in financing — 4.2% in retail and 4% in wholesale. The investment portfolio expanded 1.3%.

Aljazira Bank

Aljazira Bank posted the steepest increase of the group, with attributable profit up 17.9% to $125.7 million (SAR 471.6 million). Operating income rose 10% to $319.9 million (SAR 1.2 billion), supported by net financing and investment income, dividend income, foreign exchange income and other operating income.

Total assets reached $34.6 billion (SAR 129.8 billion) after nine months, up 12%, and investments grew 9% to $11.09 billion (SAR 41.6 billion). Earnings per share for the period came to $0.21 (SAR 0.77).

Arab National Bank

Arab National Bank's attributable profit edged up 1.65% to $359.9 million (SAR 1.35 billion), lifted by net special commission income, foreign exchange income and trading income. Total operating income increased 7.4% to $679 million (SAR 2.55 billion).

Nine-month assets rose 7.9% to $80.6 billion (SAR 302.5 billion), and investments were 13.2% higher at $17.5 billion (SAR 65.6 billion). Earnings per share for the period slipped to $0.50 (SAR 1.86) from $0.52 (SAR 1.94).

Among the wider region's businesses, Al Rajhi ranks third in a 2026 list of the 100 most valuable companies. Riyad Bank holds fourth place and SNB seventh.
