Future 100 Winner NFSSP Builds Safety Footwear Manufacturing in Abu Dhabi

The National Factory for Safety and Security Products, known as NFSSP, was a 2025 Future 100 winner and is listed under the Advance Manufacturing sector. The Abu Dhabi company has been producing safety footwear since 2011.

Its buyers work in industrial settings, on construction sites, in oil and gas operations and across logistics networks, along with other sectors where the floor is unforgiving. The brief for every pair is narrow. Protect the worker, survive heavy daily use, stay comfortable enough to wear through an entire shift.

Built in the UAE, on German equipment

NFSSP manufactures its footwear locally rather than importing finished stock. The production line runs on DESMA machinery from Germany and applies direct-injection PU technology, a method that forms and bonds the sole in the mould instead of attaching a pre-made unit to the upper. The company credits that setup for the precision and consistency of its output, and for the durability and performance of the finished products.

Four inputs sit behind the process: advanced German technology, premium raw materials, skilled workmanship and stringent quality standards. Holding all four together at once is the difficult part of footwear manufacturing, and NFSSP describes those combined capabilities as the foundation of a local production base that did not exist at scale before.

Why local output matters

Safety footwear behaves like a consumable. Workers wear it out, employers replace it, and demand holds steady rather than swinging with project cycles. When that demand is met from overseas, buyers carry shipping time, currency exposure and minimum order quantities that rarely match how sites actually buy. Making the product in Abu Dhabi compresses the gap between the factory floor and the job site, and it keeps the manufacturing knowledge — tooling, moulds, materials handling — inside the country.

That is where NFSSP's role in UAE industrial development becomes concrete. The company strengthens local supply chains by turning out a product most industrial employers would otherwise source abroad, and it does so as part of the wider expansion of advanced manufacturing across the Emirates.

Continuous improvement

NFSSP frames its priorities around continuous innovation, quality improvement, customer satisfaction and manufacturing excellence. Combining global technology with local expertise is the operating model it points to, and the target is world-class protective footwear for workers across a widening set of industries.

The next test is whether a factory built around one product line can keep pace as UAE contractors add headcount and demand faster replacement cycles. Capacity, not capability, is the constraint that tends to decide that question.
