Housecall Builds Virtual-First Primary Care Around Home Delivery

Housecall was named a 2025 winner in a regional list of 100 companies. The Abu Dhabi healthtech firm's model is simple to state: primary care that begins on a screen and, where necessary, finishes at the patient's door.

Patients open the platform, see which doctors are available at that moment, and pick one themselves rather than being assigned. Appointments are booked into slots that start on time. The consultation runs over video, and Housecall then takes over what follows.

Care that continues after the call

That after-care includes prescription delivery, laboratory testing and home visits when a clinician decides they are needed. Between appointments, patients get structured follow-up and reminders. One care team and one digital record sit behind each patient, so the clinical picture does not have to be rebuilt at every contact.

Clinical coverage

Housecall has a multidisciplinary team of more than 80 clinicians. Their areas of practice include:

  • Family medicine
  • Pediatrics
  • Mental health
  • Internal medicine
  • Women's health
  • Geriatric care

From incubator to all seven emirates

Omar Alzaabi founded Housecall in 2019 as a digital health startup. It was incubated at the Department of Health's HealthTech Hub at Hub71 and is now headquartered in Abu Dhabi. The service reaches patients across all seven emirates and works with major UAE health insurers.

Why the unglamorous parts decide the outcome

The video call is the visible half of virtual-first care. The half that determines whether patients stay is the layer underneath: who delivers the medicine, who draws the blood sample, who shows up at the house, and whether any of it is covered by insurance. A service that connects a patient to a doctor for a short consultation but leaves the prescription, the test and the follow-up for the patient to arrange rarely becomes a regular habit. Housecall's bet is that absorbing those steps is what turns a virtual clinic into something patients use for ordinary, ongoing care.

Geriatric care and home visits matter for the same reason. They reach people for whom travelling to a clinic is the main obstacle, and they keep the record continuous for patients who see several specialists.

As the company expands across the emirates, the measure will be whether the prescription, the lab result and the follow-up note land in the same record as the consultation, and whether the appointment still starts on time when the volume grows.
