KEMET-X to bring global investors and startups to Egypt in December

Career 180, an Egyptian career development platform, has launched KEMET-X, a two-day entrepreneurship and innovation gathering built around a single aim: putting Egyptian and African founders in front of the capital, partners and markets that can take them beyond the region.

The Great Pyramids of Giza will host it on 14 and 15 December 2026. Organisers expect more than 200 partners, startups and venture capital firms, drawn from over 50 countries. Founders, corporate executives, government officials and technology leaders fill out the room. Institutions are on the list as well.

The money in the room

Career 180 says the funds taking part represent roughly $5 billion in capital between them, spread across five continents. That number describes the collective weight of the investors involved. It is not a commitment to Egypt. The announcement does not say the money will be invested or pledged locally, and no fund names or allocations were disclosed.

The project was unveiled at a launch event in Cairo on 21 September 2026, attended by people from Egypt's entrepreneurship and investment scene.

Yasmeen Samy, partner and head of projects and expansion at Career 180, said the country has the talent and ambition to become a leading regional hub. The connections the platform is designed to create, she said, are the ones that turn ideas into companies, and companies into businesses with international reach.

The programme's working purpose is matchmaking: capital, access to international markets, expertise and partnerships. Egypt and Africa sit at the centre of that design. Organisers frame the country as a meeting point where African founders and international backers can find one another, and the stated ambition runs both ways. Showcase Egypt to global investors. Open doors for founders from across the continent.

Ties between Egypt, Africa and the wider global startup ecosystem are the target. The gathering is meant to give African founders a route to capital, markets and expertise that sit outside their home markets.

Five tracks

A competition, the KEMET-X Tracks Challenge, runs alongside the main event and spreads across five areas.

  • Business
  • Creative industries
  • Technology
  • Intellectual property
  • Innovation

It was introduced at the September launch and is meant to signal the breadth of disciplines the platform covers.

For founders, the pitch is access. Investors who are otherwise hard to reach. Markets outside the region. Partners whose expertise they lack.

The Cairo event is the first step in the run-up to December, when the two-day programme takes place at the Pyramids. Career 180 has positioned that gathering as its flagship.

What the meeting produces — deals rather than introductions — will be the measure of it.
