Mubadala and Together AI Team Up on UAE AI Infrastructure

Mubadala Investment Company and Together AI are joining forces on AI infrastructure and ecosystem work in the United Arab Emirates. The two sides announced the arrangement on Tuesday.

The deal gives Together AI a foothold in Abu Dhabi. Founded in 2022 and headquartered in San Francisco, the company plans to place its inference and research work nearer to the developers and the demand it serves, in the UAE and across the region. The two firms will also look for further opportunities to support how AI is built and rolled out inside the country.

Mubadala casts the tie-up as backing Abu Dhabi's effort to build sovereign capabilities along the AI value chain, and as a way to sharpen its standing as an international hub for applied innovation. Deepening technical expertise inside the country sits among the aims. So does contributing to the technology infrastructure the UAE needs as it moves toward a knowledge-based economy.

Not a cold introduction

Mubadala's UAE Investments Platform put $100 million into Together AI's $800 million Series C round in July 2026. Aramco Ventures, NVIDIA, Vista Equity and General Catalyst were among the other investors. At the time, Together AI said it had secured commitments for more than 500 megawatts of compute capacity, to be capitalized independently by new investors as the company scales its footprint.

Ali Eid AlMheiri, executive director of diversified assets at the UAE Investments Platform at Mubadala, said the group's approach centers on attracting leading technology companies, deepening local capability and shaping conditions where research turns into real-world application. He said the collaboration with Together AI reinforces a critical part of the AI ecosystem and widens access to infrastructure.

What Together AI brings

Together AI runs a full-stack platform spanning inference, model shaping and accelerated computing, with a focus on open and custom models. The company says its platform supports more than one million developers and handles workloads across training, inference and reinforcement learning.

Those capabilities land in a country already spending across the stack. The UAE government launched its national Artificial Intelligence Strategy in 2017, aiming to apply AI to government services and economic development and to make the country a leader in AI investment across key sectors. Policy, research, capital and large-scale computing have grown side by side since.

For Abu Dhabi, the practical question is who hosts the compute and the engineers who work near it. Bringing a US infrastructure company's operations into the emirate is one way to find out.
