Nabta Health has taken a new investment from Phoenix Venture Partners, which led the second close of the UAE healthtech company's $3 million pre-Series A. The amount raised in this closing was not disclosed. PVP's commitment combines primary and secondary capital.
The round has drawn institutional investors, venture capital firms, family offices and high-net-worth individuals. PVP is a venture capital fund manager domiciled in Abu Dhabi Global Market and regulated by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority.
From a consumer platform to enterprise infrastructure
Sophie Smith founded Nabta in 2017 as a direct-to-consumer women's health platform. Years of spending on technology, clinical infrastructure and research have moved the business toward a different role: building AI-powered preventive healthcare infrastructure for employers, insurers and healthcare providers.
The company combines early disease detection with Aya, an AI-supported care navigation tool, and hybrid digital and clinical care. Preventive screening and personalised care pathways connect patients, payors and providers, with the aim of catching disease earlier and coordinating treatment. Nabta's clinics and its women's health expertise remain part of the model, positioned as enablers of the wider platform rather than its centre.
The model is pitched at cost control as much as care. Earlier intervention and better population health management, the company argues, help employers and insurers contain long-term healthcare spending.
Board seat changes hands
Dr. Mussaad Al-Razouki, co-founder and non-executive director of PVP, is leaving Nabta's board. He backed the company from its early days as a founding investor and previously served as executive chairman. Steve Khayat, PVP's founder and chief executive, takes the seat as the fund's representative.
Khayat said Nabta has already done the work of building its technology, clinical infrastructure and business model, and is showing commercial traction. He described the company as being at an inflection point where the focus can shift decisively to go-to-market and sales acceleration. PVP's role, he said, will be to work with Smith and her team on deepening partnerships, speeding up customer acquisition and converting that traction into scalable growth.
Smith said PVP's arrival as a shareholder and Khayat's appointment to the board come at an important stage for the company. She cited the fund's regional relationships and hands-on support as what can help Nabta accelerate commercial growth and deepen its work with employers, insurers and healthcare providers.
Where the money goes
The funding is earmarked for go-to-market activity, customer acquisition and an expanded enterprise proposition, along with new commercial relationships across the employer, insurance and healthcare ecosystems. PVP will work alongside Nabta's leadership, drawing on its regional network, to help build those partnerships.
Nabta raised $2 million in pre-Series A funding in November 2025. Total funding now stands at $4.5 million.
