NBF Direct Adds Open Finance, Multi-Bank Views and Card Limit Controls
National Bank of Fujairah's app update, rolling out from September 2026, lets customers link accounts at other banks and set their own credit card limits.
National Bank of Fujairah has added open finance and a set of other tools to its NBF Direct app, with the changes reaching customers from September 2026. The update is built around doing more inside the app and fewer trips to a branch.
Open finance lets a customer pass account data to approved third-party apps. Inside NBF Direct, that means linking accounts held at other banks and reading them together in one view. Customers choose which of the approved firms may see their bank data. The UAE central bank is introducing open finance in stages under its own rules.
The app now includes credit card limit controls. A customer can set a card's full limit before spending on it, then lower that limit once spending begins. A lowered limit cannot fall below the amount already spent plus five per cent. NBF says the controls give customers more say over how much credit they take on.
Liability letters can be requested in the app without a branch visit first. The bank emails them, or the customer collects them in person.
Users on iOS now get push alerts on account activity and on service updates.
NBF describes the work as part of a wider effort to improve its digital systems and channels, and to widen the range of services offered through them. The app was connected to UAE Pass, the country's official digital ID, in February 2025.
Put together, the pieces move routine account admin away from the branch counter: a letter that once needed a queue is requested and delivered in the app, and a card limit can be trimmed or fixed without calling anyone. Linking outside accounts goes further, because it puts balances the bank does not hold on the same screen as the ones it does.
