Numou Partners With Royal Group Unit to Bring SME Finance to One Platform

Numou has signed a partnership agreement with Comera Financial Holding that puts working capital, supply chain finance, business accounts and digital payments in front of UAE small and medium-sized enterprises through one online marketplace.

Numou is a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Global Market, the financial free zone in the UAE capital, and its role is to connect SMEs with lenders rather than to lend from its own balance sheet. Under the agreement, Comera Financial Holding will offer its products to businesses searching for finance on that platform.

Three businesses behind the offering

The partnership draws on three units inside Comera Financial Holding:

  • Comera Finance provides business loans.
  • Comera Pay handles digital payments and merchant services.
  • Comera Money focuses on supply chain finance.

Those services give an SME ways to fund stock purchases and pay suppliers, and to cover the stretch between delivering goods or services and getting paid for them. Comera's business accounts and payment tools are intended to help firms manage their day-to-day finances as well.

The product lines sit at different points in a company's cash cycle. Working capital and business loans attach to the borrowing itself. Supply chain finance attaches to orders and supplier invoices. Payments and merchant services attach to the money moving in and out of the account.

Comera Financial Holding is part of Royal Group, the Abu Dhabi conglomerate.

What both sides say

Mohamed Al Binali, general manager at Numou, said the partnership expands the options available through the platform and makes it easier for UAE businesses to reach the services they need from a single place.

Akhtar Saeed Hashmi, chief executive of Comera Financial Holding, said SME growth depends on access to capital and on the ability to put that capital to work. He said the arrangement brings financing and payments together across the life of a transaction, from securing an order through to receiving payment.

Numou is not new to SME finance. It already works with National Bank of Fujairah, and its lender network includes the fintech firms CredibleX, Erad and FlapKap.

Why breadth matters more than any single product

Aggregators of this kind live or die on how many credible options they can show a business owner in one sitting. A company that can weigh a bank facility against a fintech loan, a supply chain product and a payments package without leaving the page is more likely to finish its search. Adding a Royal Group company gives Numou a balance-sheet-backed name alongside its fintech partners, while Comera gets distribution without having to build its own route to small firms. The stretch between delivering an order and being paid remains one of the more stubborn cash-flow problems for smaller companies in the UAE, and the products aimed at that gap tend to be judged on how quickly a business can be approved.
