Saudi shopping and financial services app Tabby has taken first place in a 2026 ranking of the Middle East and North Africa's 50 largest fintech companies, holding the top spot for a second consecutive year. Across the 50 businesses listed, transactions processed during 2025 exceeded US$260 billion.
The UAE supplied the most entries, with 15. Saudi Arabia followed on 13 and Egypt on 10, and companies based in 10 countries appear in total. Eighteen names are new to the list, among them Network International, Astra Tech, Digit9 and PRYPCO. Jordan and Morocco each contributed two companies, while Bahrain, Iraq, Oman, Yemen and Qatar had one apiece. Two further entries were classified under Bahrain/UAE and one under Saudi Arabia/USA.
What the ranking measures
Companies were assessed on external investment, transaction volumes, active users, consumer reach, geographic presence, innovation and business expansion over the past year. Fintech operations attached to exchange houses, telecommunications operators, traditional banks and government institutions were excluded.
Tabby's numbers
Tabby reported annualised transaction volume of more than US$18 billion. In September 2026 it raised US$233 million in a Series F round, lifting its valuation to US$6.5 billion, and it has obtained new licences in the UAE and Saudi Arabia to broaden its financial services.
Egyptian payments platform Fawry ranked second, with 55.4 million monthly users as of June 2026. MNT-Halan, also Egyptian, took third place after an investment round led by Al Ahly Capital Holding, the investment subsidiary of the National Bank of Egypt, valued it at US$1.4 billion in June 2026. The company is also pursuing an initial public offering on the Egyptian Exchange covering a 20 percent stake, a process expected to conclude by mid-October.
Egypt places four companies in the top 10, Saudi Arabia three and the UAE three.
