UMAMI Launches AI-Powered Learning Platform With $1 Million Investment

UMAMI E-Learning Solutions, an Egyptian edtech company, has launched LOS, an AI-powered learning platform backed by a phased investment exceeding EGP 50 million — roughly $1 million.

Ahmed Seif El-Din established UMAMI in 2019. The company builds digital learning and workforce development tools, and it serves governments, educational institutions, and enterprises. Its teams have worked on learning initiatives across more than 35 countries.

An operating system for learning

LOS is not a single course product. It functions as learning infrastructure for large organizations. The platform pulls together learning, skills, workforce readiness, performance, and institutional decision-making into one ecosystem.

That design targets ministries and large institutions across the MENA region. LOS is built to scale nationally and regionally, and it can sit inside existing systems used in formal education, healthcare, TVET, and corporate settings. Organizations can expand training programs quickly as market needs change.

Investment and expansion

The EGP 50 million investment covers both development and rollout of LOS. UMAMI is now taking LOS across Egypt and the wider MENA region.

Recognition under Egypt's Startup Charter

UMAMI is among the first Egyptian companies to hold the Startup Label Certificate under Egypt's Startup Charter. The Charter is the country's formal structure for technology and entrepreneurship. It recognizes companies that meet standards in innovation, use of technology, scale potential, and readiness for investment.

The Charter is tied to Egypt's Vision 2030. Its stated aims include supporting up to 5,000 startups and generating about 500,000 direct and indirect jobs. It also intends to accelerate access to international markets over five years.

UMAMI was separately named among the 2026 Top 100 Entrepreneurs in Africa by African Business Heroes.

Ahmed Seif El-Din, UMAMI's CEO, says the LOS launch marks a turning point in the company's shift toward intelligent learning infrastructure. The Startup Label, he said, strengthens UMAMI's standing in Egypt's innovation ecosystem. Seif El-Din adds that UMAMI uses AI to develop human capability in Egypt and the wider region.

LOS lands as governments in MENA search for clearer links between education and employment. A single platform that holds learning, skills, and performance data gives decision-makers a practical mechanism for steering training budgets. The Startup Charter adds a policy route for scaling such efforts beyond Egypt. Whether LOS becomes the backbone of national systems will depend on execution, but the direction is clear.
