Valu Jordan Launches First Phase of Operations After Securing CBJ License

Valu Jordan, an Egyptian fintech subsidiary, has officially switched on its first phase of operations in the Kingdom. The launch follows final licensing from the Central Bank of Jordan for specialized financing activities. A soft launch had already been conducted in the second quarter of 2026.

What the launch includes

Customers can spread payments across flexible terms using Valu Jordan's Buy-Now-Pay-Later services. Installment plans run as long as 60 months. The service works through an approved network of merchants, with approval and pricing tied to individual credit limits.

The company has opened three branches in Amman, located in Swefieh Village, King Hussein Business Park, and Taj Mall. Its merchant network spans retail, e-commerce, education, electronics, and consumer goods. Behind the scenes, Valu Jordan strengthened its infrastructure through partnerships covering credit information and payment processing.

Leadership and strategy

Mothanna Gharaibeh, Chairman of Valu Jordan, said at a conference in Amman that Jordan offers opportunities to build a more open digital economy. Attracting regional companies, he added, brings value through partnerships, knowledge exchange, and solutions.

Walid Hassouna, Founder and Group CEO of Valu, described the move as a natural extension of the group's regional strategy. He noted that Valu is entering Jordan with experience built in Egypt. Valu operates in the fintech and consumer finance sector, delivering digital solutions for individuals and businesses.

The group's Egyptian parent, U Consumer Finance SAE, is listed on the Egyptian Exchange under the ticker VALU.CA. Valu also ranked 35th on Forbes Middle East's list of Egypt's 50 Most Valuable Companies 2026. Further expansion of the merchant network and customer services is already planned.

Why it matters

The Central Bank license brings a foreign firm directly into Jordan's consumer finance arena. It signals that regulators are willing to open the market to established regional players, giving local shoppers access to payment models that have already scaled in Egypt.
