Wego, the largest online travel marketplace in the Middle East and North Africa, is expanding its payments partnership with Juspay.

Payment habits differ sharply across MENA. Cards lead in some markets; digital wallets and other locally preferred methods carry more of the traffic in others. A checkout that works in one country can stall in the next. Juspay works behind that checkout, integrating local payment service providers, acquirers and banks so each market sees the options its travellers actually use.

For Wego, the benefits are practical. New payment partners can be brought on board more efficiently, and the range of methods travellers can choose from widens. The checkout journey can be tailored country by country rather than built from one template for the whole region. The collaboration combines Wego's understanding of MENA travellers with Juspay's payment orchestration capabilities.

Alexandre Morin, Director of Payments, Risk & Fintech at Wego, said the company built its regional leadership by studying how travellers search, compare and book, then adapting as those habits change. The Juspay partnership provides flexibility while Wego scales into markets with different payment behaviours, Morin said, letting the company offer locally relevant ways to pay without complicating the booking journey.

Payment performance has improved since Wego began working with Juspay. Authorisation rates are up, helped by intelligent transaction routing, 3D Secure optimisation and automated retries. Unified error mapping gives Wego a consistent view of payment failures across providers, which makes problems faster to identify and resolve.

Nakul Kothari, Head of APAC & Middle East at Juspay, said travel payments need to work reliably when preferences and infrastructure differ from one market to the next. Wego's scale and its knowledge of Middle Eastern travellers make the partnership an important one for Juspay, he said.

Through Juspay's orchestration layer, Wego connects to more than 300 payment service providers and acquirers worldwide without building a separate integration for each one. Juspay's platform processes more than 300 million transactions daily and exceeds US$1 trillion in annualised total payment volume, with 99.999% uptime.

Wego continues to expand across the region and internationally, a path that crosses markets where payment preferences have little in common. The two companies plan to explore payment solutions tailored to Wego's evolving business and customer needs.

The expanded partnership is part of Juspay's broader Middle East push. It established its regional headquarters at the Dubai International Financial Centre in February 2026. For a travel marketplace moving into new geographies, a payments layer adapted to local habits determines whether a booking is completed or abandoned at the final step.
