ABA Life signs $40 million investment agreement with Admaius

ABA Life, the Morocco-based healthcare arm of ABA Technology, has signed a $40 million investment agreement with Admaius Capital Partners, a pan-African private equity firm.

The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and clearance from the Competition Council of the Kingdom of Morocco. ABA Life was founded in 2021 and had been operating for about five years when the deal was announced.

The company develops and runs healthcare solutions that combine artificial intelligence, medical technology, telemedicine, connected healthcare infrastructure and clinical services. It describes its model as integrated and profitable, and delivers healthcare programmes with public institutions and foundations aimed at widening access to medical services. ABA Life says it has converted technological innovation into concrete tools that broaden access to care.

Three priorities for the new phase

ABA Life called the investment a major milestone and said it will fund a new growth phase organised around three priorities. The first is accelerating its AI for Sovereign Health programme, which includes the Mediot AI platform and clinical intelligence solutions. The second is industrialising and deploying the group's healthcare technologies and services at scale. The third is accelerating entry into international markets.

The capital will also support expansion of ABA Life's healthcare technologies and services and its move into markets outside Morocco. The company wants to build a healthtech champion with international reach from a Moroccan base. It intends to create a next-generation HealthTech platform that combines AI, medical innovation and operational excellence, and aims to become one of Morocco's next technology unicorns.

Mohamed Benouda, founder and chairman of ABA Technology, said ABA Life has demonstrated that a profitable healthcare technology model can be built in Morocco and deployed at scale. He said the funding begins a phase of acceleration and internationalisation. Benouda said the company aims to become a global healthtech reference and one of Morocco's next unicorns. AI for Sovereign Health, he said, is intended to develop a new generation of clinical intelligence in Morocco and carry it into international markets.

Investor view

Selim Ettriqui, head of Morocco and West Africa at Admaius Capital Partners, said the firm was impressed by ABA Life's integrated healthcare operator model. That model brings together medical devices, connected infrastructure, care operations and proprietary technology developed in Morocco. He said Admaius is pleased to support Benouda and his teams in growth and international expansion.

Marlon Chigwende, managing partner at Admaius, said ABA Life has an ambitious entrepreneurial team, a proven business model, strong technology foundations and significant scale potential. He said Admaius is convinced the company can become an international healthtech reference and is pleased to support its ambition.

The deal places a private equity bet on a company that owns both the technology and the delivery of care, rather than a software layer alone. Admaius's pan-African footprint gives ABA Life a partner with reach beyond Morocco as it tests its clinical intelligence tools in other markets. For Morocco, the transaction offers a test of whether a healthtech company built around public programmes and its own infrastructure can scale internationally while staying profitable. That combination of clinical software, connected infrastructure and service operations is central to the company's pitch to investors. It also shows how a domestic operator can use public-sector programmes as a foundation for commercial growth abroad.
