ADIB Extends Visa Direct Transfers to Egypt Around the Clock
Transfers in Egyptian pounds reach eligible bank accounts, cards and wallets in real time, including on weekends and public holidays.
ADIB customers sending money to Egypt can now move funds into eligible Egyptian bank accounts at any hour, including weekends and public holidays. Each transfer is started in the ADIB Mobile App, is made in Egyptian pounds, and lands in real time through Visa Direct.
The service covers transfers to family, friends and other recipients in Egypt, and it also supports real-time payments to eligible cards and digital wallets there. ADIB describes Egypt as a major remittance route out of the UAE and says settlement outside normal banking hours helps households in Egypt meet daily needs without waiting for a branch to reopen.
The Egypt route sits inside ADIB Remit, the cross-border service the bank introduced with Visa and runs on Visa Direct. Customers reach it through the same app. Visa Direct connects senders to more than 18 billion eligible cards, wallets and accounts worldwide, and ADIB says the Egypt launch applies that reach to a key transfer corridor.
Delivery time changes what a transfer can be used for. Money that arrives within minutes can settle a bill or cover an urgent expense the same day, rather than sitting in transit while the recipient waits for banking hours to resume.
