Aramco Takes 49% of HUMAIN and Pledges $2.6 Billion in 2026 Funding

Saudi Aramco has acquired a 49% stake in HUMAIN, the artificial intelligence company controlled by the Public Investment Fund, through a wholly owned subsidiary. The fund keeps 51%, retaining majority ownership.

The completed transaction sets the final 51%-49% structure and the contributions each side will make. A nonbinding term sheet was signed in October 2025.

Aramco will put about $2.6 billion in cash into HUMAIN during 2026, equivalent to roughly SAR 9.9 billion. It will also contribute AI, computing and digital assets. Both shareholders are handing over AI capabilities and talent as they consolidate their artificial intelligence work into one company.

The consolidation is meant to back a plan to deploy 3 GW of data center capacity by 2030, capacity HUMAIN says is needed to meet rising demand for computing infrastructure. The company is building an integrated AI ecosystem running from data centers and high-performance computing through cloud platforms to advanced models, applications and industry-specific solutions.

PIF launched HUMAIN in May 2025 to develop the kingdom's AI capabilities in four areas: next-generation data centers; high-performance computing and cloud platforms; advanced AI models; and AI applications and solutions. Its portfolio includes ALLaM, a multimodal Arabic large language model.

Aramco intends to run industrial AI applications on HUMAIN's infrastructure, across its own operations and the wider global ecosystem it works with. The company expects the partnership to create additional revenue streams and to improve margins by commercializing AI and digital assets it has already built.

Amin H. Nasser, Aramco's president and chief executive, said the company has generated $11.3 billion in Technology Realized Value since 2023, with AI solutions contributing a significant share.

For Aramco, the deal turns internal tools into a commercial position: industrial applications it develops can be sold through a platform it part-owns, while HUMAIN gains a large anchor customer and committed capital. The contributions are also aimed at supporting HUMAIN's expansion in regional and international markets.

Aramco placed first in the energy sector of a 2026 ranking of the 100 most valuable companies, with a market value of $1.7 trillion. Nasser topped the Oil & Gas category of a separate 2026 ranking of sustainability leaders.
