Khwarizmi Ventures books near-3x return on partial Bosta exit

Khwarizmi Ventures, a Saudi venture capital firm, has partially exited its investment in Bosta, an Egyptian logistics startup. The firm realized a net multiple of nearly 3x on its total position in Bosta. Neither the buyer nor the transaction value was disclosed. The stake sold and Khwarizmi's remaining stake in Bosta were also kept private.

The relationship between the two companies spans several years. Khwarizmi first invested in Bosta during the company's Series A round. It later put more capital to work, investing twice more and leading one of the follow-on rounds. Three separate investments gave the firm a position large enough to make the partial exit worthwhile.

Bosta was founded in 2017 by Mohamed Ezzat, who remains CEO. The company provides technology-enabled logistics and last-mile delivery services to businesses and operates across multiple markets. Ezzat said Bosta was created to solve reliable, scalable last-mile delivery challenges for e-commerce. In his telling, it has evolved into a platform that supports thousands of businesses.

The startup has also moved up in its sector. Bosta has expanded its reach, strengthened its market position, and delivered value to merchants and consumers, the company says. The progress is not expressed in revenue figures or parcel counts, but the involvement of a repeat investor like Khwarizmi indicates sustained traction.

Abdulaziz AlTurki, managing partner at Khwarizmi Ventures, said he is “proud of the Bosta team” and “grateful to be part of their journey.” He added that the achievement reflects the founders' vision, relentless execution, and the strength of innovation in the MENA startup ecosystem.

The Bosta exit is Khwarizmi's sixth portfolio exit. Previous disposals include Tamara, POSRocket, Fatura, Melltoo, and Qawafel. The firm has also returned capital to Fund I investors twice in less than five years since the fund's launch.

The partial structure of the deal matters. Khwarizmi retains an undisclosed stake in Bosta, so it still has exposure if the company grows further. At the same time, the near-3x multiple on its total position gives limited partners evidence that the fund can turn early bets into cash.

For the wider region, the transaction shows that logistics startups can produce real liquidity events for early backers. Bosta now has an investor that has seen the company through multiple rounds and chose to keep some skin in the game. The unnamed buyer, meanwhile, gains a foothold in one of Egypt's better-known delivery businesses.
