Qatar real estate trading reaches QAR572.5m in a week as September values climb 36%
Weekly volume of QAR572.539m ($156.65m) covered plots, buildings and residential units across seven municipalities, with September contracts at QAR1.75bn.
Qatar's real estate market recorded QAR572.539m ($156.65m) in trading volume during the week of Oct. 25-29, according to the Real Estate Registration Department bulletin issued by the Ministry of Justice.
Property sales accounted for QAR516m of that total. Contracts for residential units added QAR56.5m. The week's deals covered vacant plots, houses, residential buildings, a hotel building, a residential compound and individual residential units.
Sales were registered in Doha, Al Rayyan, Al Wakra, Al Daayen, Umm Slal, Al Khor and Al Thakhira, and Al Shamal. Transactions clustered in a handful of districts: Lusail 69, Al Kharaij, Al Dafna 60, The Pearl Island and Al Gharrafa.
The weekly figure sits below the prior reporting period of Oct. 18-22, when registered sale contracts exceeded QAR600m.
Monthly numbers point to a stronger trend. September transactions under sales contracts reached QAR1.75bn, up 36% in value, while the number of properties sold rose 17% and the total area traded expanded 62%. Some 495 sale transactions were registered during the month.
Doha, Al Rayyan and Umm Salal recorded the highest transaction values among municipalities, at QAR536.1m, QAR514.1m and QAR235.79m respectively. Al Rayyan took 35% of total traded area, followed by Umm Salal at 20%, Doha at 17%, Al Wakrah at 15%, Al Khor and Al Thakhira at 3% and Al Shamal at 2%. The September breakdown came from the ministry's Real Estate Analytical Bulletin.
Legislative and regulatory changes over the period have focused on real estate brokerage, registration and documentation, and ownership and usufruct rights. The measures are intended to attract domestic and foreign capital.
Recent data also showed continued activity in the investment and commercial segments, alongside growth in the sector as a whole.
Market participants have been watching whether weekly totals hold above the half-billion-riyal mark. The Oct. 25-29 window did, helped by a mix of plot sales and completed buildings rather than unit-level contracts alone.
For scale, Dubai residential real estate transactions rose 12.4% to $6.85bn in October, with off-plan deals still leading. Qatar reports weekly, which makes district-level concentration visible: a single week's volume can lean on deals in Lusail, Al Dafna and The Pearl Island rather than spreading evenly across municipalities.
