Simplex opens second Egyptian factory and starts work on third

Simplex has opened its second manufacturing facility in 10th of Ramadan City. The plant spans 40,000 square metres, with total investment of $50 million. During the same ceremony, the company laid the foundation stone for a third factory and framed that next phase as part of its long-term expansion.

Simplex designs, assembles and manufactures Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines for industrial applications. Ahmed Shaaban and Mohamed Mansour founded the company in 2013. Shaaban says it began as a graduation project and has since grown into a business exporting to 34 countries.

Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk attended the inauguration, along with investors, diplomats and senior government representatives. The event included a ribbon-cutting, a tour of assembly divisions and production lines, and the launch of a new CNC machine with a Proudly Made in Egypt badge. Production on that line began following the ceremony.

Simplex also signed partnership and agency agreements in Jordan and Kuwait. The company described these as part of a regional growth strategy and said they widen the presence of Egyptian engineering products in Arab markets.

The opening follows a $13 million fundraising round in January 2025, led by Saudi Arabia's National Industrial Development Centre. It came after years of rising sales and a growing customer base.

Founder and Chairman Shaaban said the event showed what Egyptian youth can achieve with opportunity and support. Mohamed Mansour, co-founder and chief commercial officer, said the company wants to become a major player in the global CNC machinery industry. He described the new plant as a milestone toward meeting rising demand and expanding internationally.

Simplex now employs more than 400 engineers, technicians and administrative staff. It reports more than 4,523 customers in Egypt and abroad, and total sales above $100 million. The new facility is expected to create more than 1,000 direct jobs and more than 10,000 indirect jobs.

The company says the added capacity will double overall production. It also expects greater precision in mechanical manufacturing, faster production and delivery, shorter lead times and less reliance on external suppliers. Simplex says these gains will support new product development and strengthen the Made in Egypt brand, while also contributing to the national manufacturing ecosystem.

Exports currently account for 15% of production. Simplex sells across Africa, Europe and the Middle East, reaching 34 countries, and plans to raise the export share with help from the new agreements in Jordan and Kuwait.
