Tag Markets has appointed Craig Lund as chief executive. He takes over the executive team and the brokerage's next phase of development, working alongside the founders and existing stakeholders.
Lund's career in financial services spans more than fifteen years, much of it in regulated digital assets, operations and governance. He has held senior positions at BitOasis, MidChains and M2, and worked earlier at Merrill Lynch and Property Finder. Several regulated financial businesses have gone from incorporation to licence approval under his hand, in more than one jurisdiction. He has run teams numbered in the hundreds, and operated inside organisations carrying trading volume in the billions of dollars. His ground takes in risk, relationships with regulators, cross-border settlement, product build-outs and the assembly of executive teams.
At BitOasis, he sat on the leadership team that grew the business several times over and helped it secure one of the first in-principle approvals Abu Dhabi Global Market granted to a digital asset exchange and custodian. At MidChains, he helped build an over-the-counter desk that passed multi-billion-dollar volume within a year of opening. At M2, he put together the group operating structure that took a globally regulated exchange and custody platform from a standstill to launch in months, under several regulatory frameworks.
Where the attention goes
The appointment lands as Tag Markets turns to the parts of a brokerage that clients meet most directly. Spreads and platforms can be compared in an afternoon. What forms a client's view of a firm is how fast a withdrawal is processed and how promptly a support question is answered. Lund's brief makes those measures central and treats them as standards to be defined, measured and improved as a matter of routine. The company frames the change as a move away from growth on its own and toward the foundations that hold it up.
“A broker earns trust in the moments a client feels, not in the ones it advertises,” Lund said.
He said the coming chapter would be judged less by how quickly the company grows than by how well it runs, and that operating discipline, governance and client experience are what allow a firm to move into new markets without losing the confidence of the people it serves.
Three priorities
- Operating discipline. Clear standards and escalation thresholds across the business, so decisions are taken at the right level and can be seen afterwards.
- Resilience of execution. Order routing and pricing, along with the controls that decide how changes are pushed into live trading systems.
- Client service as management information. Feedback logged, measured and reviewed, so that patterns surface early and draw a response.
Expansion across markets increases the load on internal systems, on governance and on how the firm deals with regulators. Lund's experience sits where regulated finance, operational scale and technology intersect — the mix Tag Markets has identified as most relevant to the stage it is entering.
