Datafirst's Budoor Khaled: Put the Problem Before the AI

Budoor Khaled spent more than 18 years in data and analytics, then founded Datafirst Solutions Analysis Services to close a gap she kept seeing: companies gathered plenty of data, but rarely turned it into decisions. That gap shaped the company's mission.

Datafirst exists to make data simpler, more accessible, and more valuable. AI has widened the company's ambition—helping organizations rethink how they operate around data and intelligent systems.

Problem before technology

Budoor starts with the problem, not the technology. A company should find something real to solve, stay close to customers, and act before everything is perfect. Build, learn, adapt, and keep moving.

Datafirst applies that approach by focusing on business objectives—new revenue, better operations, less food waste—then using data and AI where relevant. For Budoor, success means solving a meaningful problem and measuring the result. She built trust by staying close to clients and their daily concerns, not by selling technological sophistication.

From professional to founder

Entrepreneurship placed Budoor across sales, delivery, product, and operations. The hardest part was building the right team. She had to prioritize, adapt quickly, and trust others. Datafirst could no longer rely only on her.

She also changed how she handled uncertainty. She had ambition, but not a complete plan, when Datafirst began. She learned that you grow as you go; you don't wait until everything is clear.

Support from the ecosystem

Sheraa gave Datafirst networks, connections, and opportunities. Mentors and other founders offered fresh perspectives and opened doors. The ecosystem became part of how she learned to build the company.

Stepping back

Time has been the biggest sacrifice. Datafirst demanded sustained energy, but Budoor realized a company cannot depend on its founder for everything. She needed systems, a trusted team, and structures that let others lead.

Adopting AI responsibly

AI is moving faster than organizational readiness. Budoor frames adoption as a question of responsibility, not of whether to proceed at all. Clients increasingly emphasize governance, trust, and controls.

Her view: data is the foundation, AI is the intelligence on top. The real opportunity is not making existing processes faster; it's redesigning processes, finding opportunities differently, and creating new value. The next phase asks what a company could do differently because AI exists.

From the UAE outward

Within five years, Budoor wants Datafirst to be an international company built from the UAE. The country's AI ambitions are part of that plan, and she expects Datafirst to build solutions locally and expand abroad.

Before Datafirst, there was a recurring problem. Before the global ambition, there was a decision to address it. Before AI became a business trend, there was a belief that technology only matters when it solves something. That principle remains: tools change, but meaningful innovation starts with understanding the problem.
